Chaos Theory and ‘The Only One for Me’

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

By Rion Williams What about ‘is there only ‘one’ for me?’ Well, that is a romantic idea, but reality is…look, there are millions of potential partners around the world. Any of the choices you may could lead to a completely different outcome, lifestyle variation, different kids, etc. We tend to only ’see’ what we have done and the road that we have taken. I want to take a larger scope of things here (which I like doing because it really helps explain things which most people cannot see or understand), but first.. People are also tying too much dependent emotion upon the idea of ‘the one for me’. Oh, ’she’s the one for me’ or ‘he’s the one for me’. How do you know for sure? Have you had many experiences with others and this one seems to ‘fit better’? What about people who have only been out with a few options; maybe their ‘one for them’ just fit their perception of not having to search the world to find ‘that one’ or because their other expectations weren’t macro dynamically based (ie. the high school sweethearts who get married)…maybe they WERE meant for each other because they didn’t open their mind to other possibilities. Also consider my Chapter on ‘When stars collide’ in my ‘Mens Guide to Women’. It may seem like fireworks at first because of the high energy and high level of passionate synergy, but after the honeymoon may come the crash (if you get a super ‘go-getter’); if not for her, then for you..just give it some time. Marriage should be natural and rewarding experience instead of a battle. You may find a lot of your freedoms being taken away. The one who is closer to ‘the one for me’ could be any of a million women, but ultimately I’ll just pick without putting too much objectification on who she is because living with a drama queen is going to completely prevent or distract my pure ability to produce and fulfill my goals. I have enough drama in my daily life and I will not accept it from any naggy woman, that’s for sure. Consider the long term implications of this for your own life..how much drama can you really put up with and achieve your goals? In the movie, ‘The Family Guy’, Nicolas Cage gets a chance to make the decision to keep his high school sweetheart. Instead of being a rich, powerful bachelor in NYC he gets to experience diapers and life as a tire salesman. Personally I think the movie is just trying to give some hope to the people who ‘did’ choose their high school sweety and have ‘family’ so they can dismiss the idea of leading a bachelor lifestyle. But my point is just to realize that different decisions and choices lead to different consequences. It’s neither right nor wrong for him to be the bachelor instead of the ‘family man’ because those are his choices…essentially this is a little chaos theory. No I absolutely believe Columbus did NOT ‘discover’ America (partly because I’m 25% Native American) but he DID start a chain of events that led to many many compound series of events on top of another. We could also talk about the movie Back to the Future, (but that’s getting too far off from this article). Try thinking about this when you see a supposedly ‘hot’ woman and the drama she could use to oppress your lifestyle longterm…maybe it was better to not follow that path. Keep your power to yourself and let her share in, if she behaves (or can be naughty from time to time). So back to the question of, ‘is there only one for me’? I don’t want to break the romantic streak in you, but I don’t think so, no. You can develop relationships with any number of women, and who you ultimately choose, is the one that you choose. You will have to make everything work from there because a real relationship requires commitment (yikes) and devotion. If you end up with an independent woman, you’re going to get a lot more than you bargained for (ask any divorced man). If you think about the romantic idea of finding ‘the one for you’…you’re probably too wrapped up in the idea (and dependency) of it. You will find love naturally anyways. You can be ‘the one’ for many different women, hey, honestly, I’ve done that before (as cocky as that may sound) just by being myself. Maybe it was my fault for leading them along a more ‘traditional’ relationship approach (but doesn’t everyone in the U.S. in our 50/50 paradigm?…this leads to a lot of heartbreak). But I was the one who broke it off but many wanted to have longer term relationships to fulfill their idea of…you know expectation, marriage… If you are an interesting, great catch yourself and know how to spark natural attraction in women, they’ll be trying to qualify themselves to become ‘your one’. Don’t take it all too seriously unless you’re thinking about marriage or you’ll put too much emotion or value into it which in reality doesn’t help things and will actually screw things up. Even when you are thinking about marriage, if the frame is set where it’s 50/50 or where she has control it’s going to be a challenge to keep it ‘working’ anyways. However, yes it always good to dream. But that also doesn’t mean you have to put all other women aside because you only want Shakira. There are other interesting and beautiful women out there who once they get to know you, may fall in love with you, or experience great sexual satisfaction with you (or both). A real relationship is going to be a lot of work, especially with an independent woman (sorry girls but it’s true)..there’s just more give and take on both ends. You can always keep your fantasies though (like Bill Engvall says, his wife woke him up and he was somewhere in the mountains with Shania Twain). Sex itself is just part of the balance of a relationship, your perception of a woman is most likely not who she is. You’ll find out she has so many likes and dislikes and interests it will be impossible to ‘match’. On the otherhand if you are looking for a wifey who can know her traditional role in the house and support you without stopping you from being the man you must be, she can balance out your energy instead just being the light and drama herself (like our American counterparts). You may have to look elsewhere for this type of woman, though there are still some left in the U.S. (but to me I’ve always found them more boring because they don’t have my interest level and energy like our independent women do). Considered Getting a VA Home Loan?

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_G._Edwards]John G. Edwards Military personnel who are classified as veterans, in active duty or service, or reservists may be qualified for the VA home loan program under the Department of Veterans Affairs. The problem is that most of them are not aware of the home loan that they fail to avail of such benefit. The VA home loan became possible by virtue of the Servicemen’s Readjustment Act which became a law during the time of former President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The law provided GIs or veterans the benefit of applying for home loans without the initial payment commonly known as down. The law received praises not only from those in the service but also from other sectors because it made the dream of every American, including the military personnel, to own a home a reality. The law not only responded to a pressing need among this sector but it also provided impetus to the construction industry of the country. Most veterans and personnel are not really capable of building or buying their own homes because of financial constraints. Aside from the burden of paying a down payment for a regular home loan, there is also the problem of paying the monthly insurance fees. Under the law, veterans or service personnel who have rendered at least 90 days of service during wartime and at least 181 days of continuous service during peace time are qualified for the home loan provided they have been honorably discharged from the service. The 2002 law increasing the guarantee on VA home loans to sixty thousand dollars means that those who are eligible for the home loan can now avail of a higher loan amount since most lenders allow them to borrow an amount that is about 400 percent than the guaranteed amount of home loan. The increase in the amount of VA home loan guarantee is favorable to those who are eyeing housing units in the Washington and California areas considering that these areas have higher housing costs. Veterans and servicemen in California who want to own a home should avail of the easy VA home loan application programs being offered by some mortgage lenders. These programs are being offered to encourage veterans and servicemen to avail of the VA home loan program the cost effective way. This program translates to very low interest rates of only 6.60 percent for a thirty year VA home loan program. The VA home loans offered in California also varies as the applicants can finance any type of residence like single, condominiums or even portable homes or vans. Most loan agencies in California offer as much as a $521 thousand home loan. If this is not enough, this can be augmented by availing of a second home loan which is also allowed by some lenders. Plus, applicants of home loans that have been guaranteed by the VA are no longer required to pay the down payment for the home loan. Veterans and servicemen who have been honorably discharged from the service and who want to avail of a home loan program in California should choose lenders that offer low rates and transaction fees. It is also not required that the applicants be residents of California prior to their VA home loan applications. It also does not matter where they served in the military. Any veteran or service man is eligible provided they are willing to buy or build a home in California. The increase in the guarantee amount for VA home loans in California may be due to the fact that California is among the two States in America that requires more veteran homes. Thanks to the enactment of the Veterans Home Bond Act of 2000, additional funds for the construction of new homes for veterans in the Ventura, Lancaster, Fresno, Redding and West Los Angeles areas have been made available, The same law specified that new veterans homes be constructed in Ventura and Lancaster California offers a sunny weather not only for those who want to have fun but also for veterans who want to live peacefully and serenely in their own homes. By availing of the VA home loans, any qualified veteran can now start getting used to the good life in California. John G. Edwards is a consultant that has helped many people with their finances. Arson Watch Program, Why Does Our Community Need One?

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

By Lance Winslow Why does your community need an Arson Watch Program? Well, about 10 years back one of our franchisees in our company had all his belongings lost in a fire in the Conejo Valley in California adjacent to the Santa Monica Mountains. He was not alone as whole neighborhoods and 10s of thousands of acres were destroyed in under two days. The following year the fires were back bigger than ever before. This time half the city of 100,000 people were in danger with half of Malibu CA over the hill cut off. Many lost their homes and few lost their lives unable to get out of the canyons in time. The fire moved so fast there was little time to escape. This year the fire was believed to be arson related, although no one was ever caught. That year there were other fires all burning simultaneously around Northern and Southern CA and parts of Northern Nevada. That is when The Car Wash Guys, our company decided that they would get involved. Although many of us live in very green areas, where fires have a tough time getting started, once they do get going they generate their own wind and heat and little stands in their way. The most important strategy is to catch them early. Of the nearly 20,000 brush fires annually in the Western States in the Forest Regions, few ever get out of control, but the ones that do we all remember. By uniting the entire community and working together we can decrease the number of fires intentionally started and a better response to those that are started by negligence or by Mother Nature such as lightening. We must work hard to preserve our area and make our community one of the best places in the World, a person could ever hope to live. We have a great community and we intend to guard against the loss from fire. We want our community to be the greatest in our state and our citizens, friends and families to know that we are all looking out for them and they are looking out for us. No longer will the temptation exist for an unethical situation to occur from an arsonist. Arsonists will know that our town is a no fly zone and that it is not only a police car, fire department vehicle or the USDA Forest Service truck that they need to be concerned with. They will be caught if they attempt anything by the first person who sees them. The Schwanns delivery truck, the school bus driver, an electrician, a plumber, a real estate agent, anyone and everybody will be observing while driving around in their normal course of business. With this same group of people we too wish to interact with Mother Nature to keep the natural forest fires to a minimum. We intend to protect our families, homes and beautiful serene area from devastation that can be prevented or quickly contained. You may wish to consider setting up a neighborhood arson watch in your area as part of community effort. If you are interested in learning more, we have written a free online 21-page E-book, which is available at: http://www.lancewinslow.org/arsonwatch.pdf Perhaps you might look through it and see if this is a potential solution for your community during this next fire season? “Lance Winslow” - Online Think Tank forum board. Could Your Area Support Another Local Newspaper?

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

By Jim Sutton Today, every large city has at least one major daily newspaper, and many have several papers, including specialized business news, senior citizen news, shoppers guides, advertising sheets, and so on. Some of these papers are published weekly and others may come out every other week, or every month. But in all these ways news and information, and lots of advertising, goes out to the public. Rather than hurting local newspaper distribution, the Internet has actually enhanced and often increased it. I may live in Sacramento, California, for example, but I can jump on the Internet and catch some of the local news in Portland, Maine by way of the local newspapers. I can even subscribe over the Net in just a few minutes. Such public presence makes every newspaper available to the entire world. The result of such exposure is a much wider audience, and more subscriptions. The Need in Your Area More than likely, your area already has at least one daily paper based in a nearby city, as well as other publications, such as The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Im sure there are also real estate guides, shoppers, business news, free papers that target farm or city readers, and other local or regional publications. You may wonder if there is really room, or a need for yet another newspaper. Are Local Businesses & Readers Being Served? You need to know the answer to the above question before you go very far in trying to develop a newspaper or other local publication. You need to have an accurate understanding of who you will serve, how you will serve them (what can you offer that no one else is offering), and why. You should be fully aware of other publications in your market area and what they are doing. Take the time to do a little research. Drive around and collect one each of every newspaper, shopping guide or trading post, real estate guide, and free magazine publication you can find. Spend a couple of days looking them over. Go through each publication more than once. Take note of the advertising, the news offered, the features (comics, puzzles, tidbits) offered. Ask yourself how well the people you know are being represented by these publications. How well are the small and medium sized businesses in your area publicized? The second step in your research is to go out and visit with local business people. Visit briefly with barbershops, pet stores, cafes, repair shops, appliance stores, tax services, attorneys, clothing stores all kinds of businesses. Stop in and ask business owners and managers about their advertising methods, their needs for new sales and new customers. Ask them how a publication might better serve the community and marketplace. Next, go through the phone books Yellow Pages for your area. Take a look at every business category in the book. Pay special attention to the businesses that do not advertise in the phone book. Go back through your collection of newspapers and guides and see if you can find ads for these businesses. Make a list of the business for which you can find no ads at all. Give them a call, and ask them how they promote their businesses and why. Youre Looking for two things: 1. Are the existing local publications truly serving your area? Is there a workable and effective way for most small and medium-sized businesses in your area to get the word out about their products and services? 2. Are most of the small and medium-sized business owners in your area really aware of the opportunities open to them for advertising? Do they understand the importance of consistent and effective advertising? Do they have realistic expectations? As you develop a clearer picture of your area and how well the local people and the businesses that serve them are being represented by the local printed media. Demographic Information Another step I would encourage is to check out the specific demographics of your area. Always take such information with the proverbial grain of salt. But you may be surprised to learn some of the facts about who lives around you. You can find such information on the web, at sites like CensusScope: http://www.censusscope.org/ U.S. Government (population, business info, etc.): http://www.census.gov/ Free Demographics PDF file download: http://www.census.gov/prod/2002pubs/censr-4.pdf You can find more sources by doing a Google search, typing in the word demographic and the name of your city, county or state. When looking over demographic information, note the numbers of youth, elderly, working-age adults, birth rates (new or expanding families), households, businesses (and what kinds), and other features of the area that influence the local interests and needs of potential readers. The more you know about all the people you serve, the better prepared you are to develop a publication that truly serves the people. Going Door to Door Even so, you will get a better feel for the people who read the paper by getting out and talking to your neighbors. Why not visit a few people in some of the local neighborhoods? Interview some folks on the street. Talk to a couple of local police officers, chat with a pawnshop owner, the owner of a local bar, a few of the pastors, an officer of a local bank, a store keeper. Ask their opinions of the area, the people they serve each day, what the greatest needs are, and what they think might help the community the most. Get some feedback from children, teens, and some working moms and dads. All of this may sound like a lot of homework. But its the very kind of work you will be doing if you start up a local newspaper. And you cannot imagine how much you will gain from such activity. In a few days, you will know the community like you have never known it before. And youll also be better prepared to decide whether or not there is really a place for a new paper in your area. Practical Applications of the Data Buy yourself a spiral bound notebook and write down the main things you learn from the above research. List the businesses you want to give special attention to, the groups of potential readers you especially want to target. Write down the primary goals of your newspaper of other publication. What do you want to accomplish besides making a living? Are there large gaps in the coverage and local representation offered by other publications? Can you see a way of marketing/selling your paper to advertisers that will help them to see the immediate benefit to advertising with you? With some blank sheets of typewriter paper, layout some page ideas for your publication. Sketch out some headlines, some ideas for main photos, some good ideas for ads, and the kinds of ads you want to run. Build a mock-up of your paper. How many pages will it have (think is sets of 4 and 8, since the printer will think this way). A 16 or 20 page paper is a great size for many small weeklies to start with. That gives you space to fill with information and ads, without giving you a huge mountain to climb. As you work on ideas, keep in mind the segment of the population, and the specific businesses you want to center your attention on. Build a newspaper that appeals to the readers and advertisers you want to attract. If you’re like me, you’ll also be going through the numbers, with a calculator and notepad, over and over and over. Spend all the time you want (and need) playing with numbers before you start trying to sell the first issue. How many households are in your area (demographics)? How many of those do you plan to reach? How much will postage cost for the number of papers you want to direct-mail to homes, businesses, or p.o. boxes? Get to know your post office staff. Find out about Standard (used to be called Bulk) rates, route saturation mailings, and keep researching until you get the lowest possible rates for your paper. Finally Get quotes on every configuration of printing your paper. Find out about 4-color process, spot color, black ink only (more about this) and combinations of these, which pages will be color and which will be black ink only (if any). Adjust all your own rates according to this data. And remember that the market you choose to reach will determine much about your use of color and other options.
