Wedding Reception Flowers and Decorating Accents

Monday, November 26th, 2007

By Rose Smith Once the bridal bouquet and ceremony flowers are chosen, it’s time to focus on what type of wedding reception flowers you may use. You’ll need to look at food tables, guest tables, the head table, as well as decorating accents throughout the room. However, you don’t need to use only flowers. There are a wide variety of choices of greenery that can also be put to good use. First, you must understand where larger flower arrangements are appropriate… and where they are not. The more elaborate floral arrangements can be used on buffet tables, cake tables, on stands near the entrance and staircases, and close to the band or DJ. These types of arrangements, however, should not be used on guest tables or the head table as they are too large and will block the view of the guests. Table centerpieces created from flowers should be kept low and small. Make sure they compliment the overall color scheme and theme of the wedding. Nor do all the table centerpieces have to be identical. A unique and interesting idea would be to use a variation in the types of flowers, yet with the same color scheme. Small bud vases are best used on guest tables. A great combination wedding favor and table centerpiece idea would be to cluster small vases with a single flower in each. After the wedding, the guests can take home one of the bud vases as a wedding favor. If you can not afford to use many large floral arrangements, choose 2 or 3 for the buffet tables or other key area and decorate the rest of the room using balloon bouquets, tree branches with twinkling lights or rented palm and/or ficus trees. Edible bouquets are also very popular for table centerpieces. Spun sugar sculptures, fruit baskets and miniature tiered wedding cakes also serve a dual purpose as a table decoration and wedding favors… or as dessert at the end of the meal. Here are a few more wedding flower bouquet ideas you may want to consider: Wedding wishes cookie bouquets Milk chocolate long Stem roses candy bouquets Twinkle pop/lollipop bouquets As you can see, you can incorporate many “floral” bouquet ideas into your wedding scheme without breaking the bank. Large floral arrangements are beautiful to look at, but they can also be very expensive. Consider some of the alternatives to help save money, yet still create unique flower arrangements that will delight your guests. Pleasure - Consciousness Of A Transition To Heightened Vitality

Monday, November 26th, 2007

By Rotich Wilson What is pleasure? In his book, C.D. Broad defines pleasure as the consciousness of a transition to heightened vitality and pain as the consciousness of a transition to lowered vitality and these are the only ultimate good and evil(C.D.Broad,1971). As human beings we feel good when we are uplifted by our successes, good health, sweet meals and other pleasantries. But we feel irritated, nauseated and sick when we are lowered down by our failures, poor health, fatigue, poor or broken relationships and others. While pursuing this argument, C.D. Broad impressively maintains that,If a man were born with completely clear ideas and completely active emotions, he would according to Spinoza have no idea of good or evil. For he would never have felt the pleasure of passing to a higher degree of vitality and mental clearness nor the pain of passing to a lower degree of vitality and to a state of greater mental confusion. Yet he would be in the best state in which a human being could be. Adam and Eve originally experienced the state of life that C.D. Broad is wishing for a man, before the fall. They knew neither good nor evil. They felt no emotional pain or emotional pleasure. But when they sinned, God said, man has now become like one of us knowing good and evil(Genesis 3:22). To use Broads logic, when man sinned his eyes were opened. The opening of the eyes here means that they received some consciousness of impending transitions. When a person is conscious of a change to a heightened vitality that is characterized by mental clarity, enjoyment, delight, self-satisfaction, good health and achievement of ones will, wish and choice then he or she feels emotional pleasure. But when a person is conscious of a transition to a lowered vitality that includes mental confusion, bad moods, poor health, sadness, frustration, failure of ones wishes or plans then he or she will be down in pain or agony. Before the fall man felt no emotional pleasure because he had no pride over any achievement. He gave all credit to God. He felt no emotional pain because he suffered no failure under Gods enablement. What a perfect life! Before the fall, man did only what pleased God. He did not seek to please himself. He did not do what he wanted. Therefore when he did what God instructed him to do then God would enable him to do it with a lot of ease and success and at the end of the day he could not feel any emotional pleasure because his actions were not meant to give him feelings of importance. But after the fall, man became like God in the sense that he began to do whatever he wanted and whatever was pleasing to himself. Man began to disobey all commands, be it from God or fellow human beings. As a result of this, man became dependent on his limited strength and knowledge. When he succeeds in anything then he gives glory to himself and feels uplifted emotionally because he has achieved what he wanted. But when he fails in his actions then he gets depressed. When Adam sinned he suffered emotional pain that was caused by emotional downfall. Adams first failure in life was his failure to obey Gods commands. He suffered guilt, felt naked and feared to go before God. He suffered resentment and he bitterly blamed his wife for his sin calling her, the woman you put here with me(Genesis 3:10-12). He suffered the pain of losing the beautiful Garden of Eden, which contained delicious, nutritive fruits. Adam suffered the pain of living in poor health because he lost access to the tree of life whose leaves are for good health. He had to look for food with great difficulty. Even after the fall, God graciously helped Adam and Eve. Eve recognized Gods grace when she said that, with the help of the Lord, I have brought forth a man. Similarly Adam gave due credit to his creator and he said that, God has granted me another child in the place of Abel, since Cain killed him. Although it may be true that Adam and Eve uttered the above statements with some pride and pleasure then at least they recognized Gods part in their achievements. A 731-Word commentary,By,Rotich K. Saturday, November 24th, 2007

By Lorna Mclaren It is every bride-to-bes dream that they will be able to have the choice of all bridal gowns to be able to have the perfect one for their big day. Unfortunately, the reality is that many of the most desirable bridal gowns are too expensive for the average bride to afford. Quite often it is the cheaper bridal gowns that are the most popular but how can you afford to have the bridal gown of your dreams? The answer is simple hire your bridal gown. Brides used to want to keep their wedding dress as a reminder of their perfect day and maybe even hand it down to their daughter. However, times have changed. Men have been hiring their morning suits for years and now there are more bridal gowns that can be hired too. The greatest deciding factor when it comes to choosing bridal gowns is always cost. You may not be able to afford to buy that designer wedding dress but you may well find that you can hire it. There is nothing wrong with wearing one of these rented bridal gowns, after all, who is going to know that you did not buy it? We have become used to celebrities being loaned designer outfits and jewelry for movie premieres and awards ceremonies and not thought twice about it. The same applies to bridal gowns. If you hire one of the designer bridal gowns you will be able to have your fairytale dress for the occasion at a fraction of the price of buying it. Find out how to create your special day at http://www.a1-ourwedding.com and have that fairytale come true. Top Web Site Blunders by Coaches, Consultants and Experts

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

By Marcia Yudkin Of all the web sites belonging to coaches, consultants and experts that I have reviewed, more than three-quarters shared a very serious marketing blunder: Their potential clients wouldn’t understand from their home page precisely what they do. Jargon gets in the way. Many specialists believe that they need jargon to communicate their expertise. Without it, they’d sound incompetent, they think, and those in their target market who are as specialized as they are wouldn’t respect them. My recommendation is not to eliminate jargon, but toinclude it in the site, with your main emphasis on thebusiness benefits your company provides or the problemsyour company solves. For instance, I’ve done an informal survey to see if business owners understand the jargonistic tag line, “CRM software for small business.” Nope! Most aren’t even surewhat “customer relationship management” really means. But if you write, “Close sales faster and improve customer loyalty through customer relationship management (CRM) software for small business,” you’ll earn greater comprehension, without alienating those who already knowthe shorthand. Don’t think this applies to you? Sorry, it does. Nearly everyone in business overestimates - usually greatly overestimates - the extent to which customers understand their jargon. The other nearly epidemic blunder at sites belonging to coaches, consultants and experts is not explaining clearly and persuasively why someone should use you rather than thecompetition. What’s unique about you? How do you differ from your colleagues? If everyone is qualified and experienced, why should I choose you? With sufficient thought and care, you can add text to your web site that gets potential clients thinking, “This is exactly theperson who can help!” Related to this is the absence at many sites of twopowerful tools for credibly distinguishing yourself fromthe competition: testimonials and expert articles. Testimonials are quotes from clients you’ve helped, andthey should refer to results achieved with your help - notjust you being a competent, nice service provider - and besigned with a complete name and business identifier orgeographical location. Expert articles engage visitors toyour site and show that you know your stuff. Finally, all coaches, consultants and experts need to havea newsletter to capitalize properly on visits to their web site. This is because people shopping for professional services sometimes decide to buy that very day. Moreoften, they come to your site looking for informationrather than to hire someone. If they read a couple of yourarticles, like them and sign up for your newsletter, you’llhave the chance to impress these potential clientsrepeatedly. Down the line, they’re likely to hire you, sometimes without ever returning to your site. But yoursite set that process in motion. Weight Loss Success

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

By Gary Gresham Weight loss success requires staying inspired and sometimes giving your weigh loss plan a tune-up. Drinking more water and eating smaller portions are effective but boring. Much of weight loss success really depends on your attitude. Staying positive just takes a little creativity and some diet strategy to keeping your mind and body motivated. Here are a few calorie cutting tricks that should help you lose weight and keep the boredom away. It takes your brain about 20 minutes to register that your stomach is full. To slow down your eating process, try eating nuts that require cracking or grapefruit that must be peeled and sectioned. Think of your weight loss diet plan as a way of eating more veggies that can in turn create a waistline friendly result that will make you smile. Have an appetizer before your meal. Just be sure it is low-calorie and contains a lot of water, like soup or fiber, like salad. This will help you eat less over all. Remember to choose carefully and beware of cheese and high-fat dressings. Try something exotic once a week. Something that is not familiar to you. Maybe a guava (112 calories per cup) or jicama (49 calories per cup). People dont tend to over eat unfamiliar foods. As you begin, taste and savor every bite. This slower eating experience will reacquaint you with the pleasure of eating, which is important when youre consuming less. Downsize your plates and bowls. By eating on smaller dishes it may help you consume less food. Researchers from Cornell University served snack mix in two different size bowls. A large one and a smaller one. The study showed that subjects took 53 percent more snack mix from the larger bowl. In a second study at the University of Illinois at Urbana, juice was served in two different size glasses. One was short and wide and the other tall and skinny. Both glasses held the same amount of juice but the subjects who drank from the tall and skinny ones (which looked larger) poured themselves less juice. Balance every meal with a serving of vegetables. Vegetables fill you up so you dont tend to go back for second helpings. And last but not least, make an accomplishment list at the end of each day. It will help you track what is and isnt working in your diet. It will also help to acknowledge each success that will eventually lead to more. With a little planning, choosing the right foods and becoming aware of portion sizes you can obtain the weight loss success you desire. Remember anything is possible if you believe it can happen. Can Breathing Help You Lose Weight?

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

By Barry McDonald We all know that obesity is on the increase, we see it every day on TV and in magazines. The problem seems to be spiraling out of control. Common sense tells us that weight gain is just down to the plan and simple fact of eating too many calories and the wrong food choices but this problem can also be because of low self esteem and being in situations where you are under constant stress and use found the wrong food both as a comforter and a quick energy pick me up. So what can we use to turn that to turn your weight gain around? What if I told you that you could make a big difference to your health from the proper breathing technique both in increased energy and relieving yourself in stressful situations? We all know the benefits of the proper breathing technique. If youre breathing improperly your body isnt gaining the full benefit of the lungs and you body suffers in the same proportion. This problem gets worse when you consider that most people also dont exhale properly and a lot of waste products and gases are left to accumulate there. This sluggish feeling can start a vicious where the victim goes from having no energy to snacking on sugar filled pick me ups, which contain extra calories, which add to the weight gain, which add to the feeling of a lack of energy and the cycle goes on and on! By using the proper breathing technique you can increase your intake of oxygen to the body. Because oxygen is so important, (we can live for a couple of days without food and water but only minutes without air, we can see how much our bodies rely on it) All the organs require oxygen to function properly even the process of digestion needs oxygen to process the food and burn up the waste products. So as you can see if your bodies not getting its quota of oxygen you can never expect it to perform to the best of its abilities. Plus the benefits of breathing exercises are that you can do them anywhere (even if youre sitting in traffic) and you dont have the added expense of exercise equipment or gym membership. Outdoor Fireplace Plan

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

By Josh Riverside An outdoor fireplace plan explains the various steps and procedures to be considered while building an outdoor fireplace. A good outdoor fireplace plan acts as the fundamental step for constructing an attractive and durable outdoor fireplace. The plan developed must be user-friendly and cover all phases of construction and maintenance. It should ideally include details such as the overall cost of the fireplace and the average time required to build it. Preparation to install an outdoor fireplace plan is time consuming. The plan must begin with the selection of an appropriate location where the fireplace is to be built. The outdoor fireplace can be installed anywhere in the backyard, pool, or patio. Be sure that the chosen location is clean and free of clutters. Next, the outdoor fireplace plan should consider the type of material needed for the fireplace construction. Usually, an outdoor fireplace is made of stone or brick, as these materials are durable and non-combustible. Cast iron and aluminum alloy are also used for its construction. Moreover, the outdoor fireplace plan should specify the outdoor fireplaces one is going to build, that is, to specify whether its a wood-burning one or a gas fireplace. In the case of wood-burning outdoor fireplace, construction of a proper chimney and a clean flue must be ensured. If it is a gas fireplace, then the outdoor fireplace plan should include the various venting options. Apart from these, a typical outdoor fireplace plan must carry information about the various safety and security measures, which is to be considered at the time of construction. Tips and tricks needed for preparing a successful outdoor fireplace plan can be obtained through the internet. A countless number of articles and magazines also give guidance for creating a systematic plan. Once a perfect outdoor fireplace plan is made, you can certainly begin the construction. Drive More Customers to Your Collision Center

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

By Richard Arnold The growth of your collision center depends on your ability to gain new customers. Unfortunately, the scope of marketing efforts for many collision shops is to place an ad in the local yellow page phone book. Not that this practice is a bad one, but there is much more that shop management can do to drive more customers to the collision shop. Do you have a marketing plan for your collision center? If not, you should. An effective marketing plan can bring more customers to your door. Through the process of developing and writing a marketing plan for your shop, you will conduct a competitive review and market analysis, review advertising and media options, and identify ways to build customer awareness as well as leverage referral business. And in todays world, the task of writing a marketing business plan is much easier than in days past. There are numerous tools and resources available to you through your paint jobber and other collision shop consultants to assist you in getting this important task completed. Another important key to gaining new business is tracking and measuring current business through Customer Satisfaction Indexing (CSI). Most dealerships conduct CSI on new car sales and some do it with their service departments, but research shows very few perform this important business function at the shop level. As in other areas of a dealership, when properly done, a well-ran CSI program for the collision center will help turn customer feedback into useful marketing and management tools that insure long-term profitability. And remember, for greatest effectiveness, CSI should be done on a consistent and ongoing basis, and administered by a third party for the highest level of credibility. Keep this statistic in mind when considering implementing a shop CSI program: The average disgruntled customer tells 17 people about his experience. How many people will those people tell? Speaking of referrals use your satisfied customers to help spread your good name around. Start sending your customers a Thank You card for choosing your shop to bring their pride and joy back to pre-accident condition. And take it a step further by enclosing a small pass along card (printed on one side with your shop info) that your customer fills out with their name, address and contact info on the backside. The idea is to get your customer to pass along this referral card to a friend, family member or associate that we all know will likely be in an accident sometime soon especially if they drive in any metropolitan area. Increase the pass along success rate with an incentive for the person who passes it along once a referral uses your shop. Reward them with a gift certificate to a restaurant, tickets to a movie, or maybe just cash. Get creative. Nothing beats word of mouth advertising. Can the service center help promote the collision center? Of course it can. How many vehicles pass through the service center with dents, dings, crumpled fenders and bruised bumpers? Probably plenty. Educate the service staff to make note of body damage when vehicles are brought in and have informational material on the collision center ready for handout to the customer. Take a minute or two and promote the collision center and vice versa. How long has it been since your dealership conducted a Customer Appreciation Day? These events go a long way in showing your customers that you truly appreciate their business. They also provide an excellent venue to showcase your many services and an opportunity to educate customers about what really goes on behind the scenes of todays professional shop environment. When it comes to gaining customers for the collision center, the seed should be planted before the customer is in an accident. There are off-the-shelf Accident Kits available that can be included with new car sales. These kits include items such as a checklist of what to do in case of an accident, paper and pen, tape measurer, accident report form, and some even include a disposable camera that can be customized with your business name, logo and contact information. Another way to plant the seed is to produce a short informational video CD about the collision center and what the customer should do if they have an accident. The CD would also be included with all car sales and customers would be encouraged to view the video soon after the purchase. These are just several ideas on ways to gain collision center customers before they have an accident. And with some creative thinking, I know you can think of many more. Having an automobile accident is usually a very stressful and sometimes traumatic experience for most people. By educating and preparing your customers for this event, you are doing them a favor and keeping your business in their mind when it comes time to choosing a shop to repair their vehicle. A Serial Cheater - How Should She Handle It?

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

By Mimi Tanner Question: How do you handle a cheating husband or boyfriend? Answer: You use principles that apply to every relationship situation. Here’s a recent letter from one of my readers (I’ll change her name to “Sweetheart”): Dear Mimi, What do you do when your husband does not stop cheating? I left him for six months, and served him with divorce papers. He begged me not to divorce him. After some time of thinking how much I do love him, I came back. Then he was once again on the internet and staying out late at night, telling me that he is out with friends. I know the truth. I am not going to leave the marriage again, and neither is he, but I want respect and my marriage back. There must be another way. Please help. –Sweetheart Dear Sweetheart, I probably should not advise you here, because only you can make the decision, and from what I read in your letter, it sounds like you plan to stay no matter what. About respect, a lot of it is what you will tolerate. People don’t really want to get away with treating someone else badly. They don’t feel good about themselves and they end up resenting the person who lets themself be treated badly. Life is short, and there are hundreds of men waiting for a woman to love. Not to mention the fact that it’s pretty nice to live without a man in your life. Don’t close off your options. If you are ‘determined’ to stay with a cheater (something I think you should reconsider), then you might try treating him differently - I would not act victimized by the cheating. Act like you have your own world and are happy - and that you know he is cheating. He’ll wonder why his outrageous actions don’t bother you. That is a starting point. Blessings to you, Sweetheart, and I wish you the best. Sincerely, Mimi Tanner Dear Mimi, I am trying to live my life. I would like to know how I can work with what I have. According to the articles I have read by Cucan Pemo, it said not to confront the cheating husband or try to pull him away from the cheating. Actions speak louder than words. Tell me if this is true. –Sweetheart Hi, Sweetheart, I have to agree with that. If you try to pull him away from the cheating, then he will only go for it more. Human nature. That cheating will be old and cheap and trashy eventually and it has no soul and can’t bring him any joy in the long run. So maybe one way to look at it is to let him be his own worst enemy there - until he finally realizes that it leads to nowhere. I know some people can’t be cured of cheating (serial cheaters). I’d say to work on one goal at a time for yourself and focus on yourself, not on him. The shift in your manner will be noticed by him. One thing I have learned is to ‘let others be.’ Let him do what he is going to do. Do not try to stop it. He’ll be wondering why there is no resistance from you - and that WILL work in your favor. It’s a big world out there - don’t forget ! Take care, Mimi Dear Mimi, Two of my friends said the same thing. I do notice when I am doing my own thing he notices. When my phone rings he asks who is on the phone. I have to go with what you said. Thank you, –Sweetheart Readers: you see - it’s absolutely true. When you take care of yourself - and stop focusing on what you can do to save him, help him, change him, cure him, or “make” him love you - you take on a completely different aura, and you throw the old ways of relating with him out of balance. There is a book out there which I have not read yet, and I’m about to read it. When I do, I’ll review it for you. It’s been around for a while, and has held its own in the marketplace, so I’m assuming it’s good: it’s called “Men Made Easy.” Review of it coming soon - that’s a promise. The author, Kara Oh, recently revamped her website, and I like the new photos on it a lot. I emailed her recently and she’s super nice!! Those photos of Kara and her hubby don’t lie, so I think maybe her book works, hmmm? Well…I’ll let you know. The interesting thing about Kara is that she is now 57 (and still attractive), so she has the benefit of life experiences to back up what she is writing about. She also lists her phone number in Santa Barbara on her website, which is completely unheard of in the relationship business. Her website is: Men Made Easy. Here’s what the author, Kara Oh, says:”Whether you are single or married, been with him a long time or newly involved, having trouble or blissfully in love, Men Made Easy is your relationship survival guide, and your instruction manual for men, all rolled into one!” Mimi Tanner reveals the secrets of flirting and getting the attention of your man. Her emails are read by thousands of women every day. Check out Secrets of Flirting With Men. You may reprint this article if this statement is included, with all links unchanged. Put Your Lawn On a Diet

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

By Doug Green Those wonderful green lawns many homeowners care about so much can be made much more healthy if we put them on a diet. Overfeeding causes as many problems with lawns as it does with people. Fat lawns are not healthy lawns. Rather than go on about this problem, let me simply tell you about the research at the University of Guelph. Researcher Christopher Hallfound there was a way to promote health in the lawn by the frequency of the fertilizer application and the amount of fertilizer applied. According the Hall, fertilizer for lawns should be applied three times per year. One quarter of the fertilizer being applied should be applied in early summer, (not early spring) when the ground warms up and the grass is beginning to really grow. Another quarter is applied in late summer, around the middle of August when the fall rains are promoting growth, and the last half of the fertilizer is applied at the end of November to fatten up the roots for winter survival. This application rate was found to create a much denser turf than applications at other times all species and cultivars of grass. It was particularly effective on perennial rye grass and tall fescues. The next question is how much food does the lawn need? Chris Hall at Guelph found that the turf did better if only 2 pounds of Nitrogen per 1000 square feet was used over the whole season. From the above paragraph, it can be seen that 1/4 pound is applied in early summer, 1/4 pound in late summer and 1 full pound in late November for the healthiest, thickest lawn. Overfeeding produces thatch and weakened grass that is susceptible to pests and disease. It is also more costly. So, put your lawn on a diet for a better lawn.
